20-20 Vision Functional Tyre Competition
Great news … it’s a whole-school competition again!!! The 20/20 Vision Functional Tyre Competition is aimed at taking something ordinary – like old used tyres – and re-purposing them to create a tyre garden AND a functional piece of furniture. Tyres are among the largest and most problematic sources of waste, due to the large volume produced and their durability.
That’s why it would be a great idea to teach our children how to reduce, reuse and recycle tyres. Old tyres are normally thrown out or at the very least end up sitting around in the garage, street or garden collecting dust, so the challenge is for each class to transform tyres into something useful.
You will be able to collaborate with your class on how to transform tyres into beautiful gardens and useful objects.
At CityKidz we want to encourage and showcase how we can transform our environment and make teaching an exciting experience. This project is an amazing opportunity for each class teacher to motivate and inspire children. The project also will focus on environmental awareness and the purpose of reducing, reusing and recycling. All you need to do is to create an awesome tyre garden and ONE functional piece of furniture that complements your tyre garden.
The competition starts now, because over the next couple of months you need to encourage children and parents to provide used tyres, create gardens and assist with the making of a functional piece of furniture. It is important to showcase your classes’ input. How you go about this is entirely up to you, but it’s really important to get your parents involved.
Once again, I will invite external judges for the judging of the competition to ensure impartiality and fairness. There will be prize money for the winning teachers and a party for the winning classes!!
