Grade 7 Career Day

15 October 2016
career-day

On Friday 16 October the Grade 7s` participated in Career Dress Up Day at school, sometimes we tend to forget that they are so young; children of whom we ask a lot. Seeing them all dressed up as lawyers, doctors, mechanical engineers, charted accountants and air force pilots was a touching indication of their naïve and idealistic aspirations . Of course we also had soccer players- at least half a team! For our children, the sky is the limit as they grow up in world of variety and possibility, with a wealth of choices to make.

Career satisfaction is an essential element of adult life and we are happy to be able to expose our learners to the beginning process of career planning and development.

Thank you to all who took part and to Mr B Mlotshwa for initiating and facilitating the idea.

My name is Simphiwe Mahlaba, when l finish school l want to be a Chartered Accountant. On Friday the 14th of October 2016, we were informed that we had to wear the attire according to your career field. A CA  does not have an attire so l wore a dress. I chose to become a CA because l like Mathematics and calculating. It takes about 5 years to study for being a Chartered Accountant (CA). A CA works with financial information about a company, individual or organisation, by interpreting, recording , classifying and communicating. The subjects required are Mathematics (Pure), Economics, Business studies and Accounting.

career-day

On Friday the 14th of October the Grade 7s had their career dress up day. We all had to dress up based on a career ,then later on we had an interview in Mrs Corrigan ‘s class. We were interviewed by Mr B Mlotshwa  and Mrs Corrigan. I was excited  and nervous.

When l grow up l want to be an Aircraft Controller. Aircraft Controllers are people trained to maintain the safe, orderly and expeditors flow of the aviation system. I chose this career because l’ve always wanted to work with aircraft and l love the smoothness of the aviation system.

Although l was nervous ,l enjoyed my day. l hope l achieve my dream and continue to take responsibility in my school work.
