The Jozi Book Fair theme this year is “Women and literature”. This is Nontando Khoza’s entry into the short competition for Grade 7’s, 8’s and 9’s.

The woman that adds light into my life is my mother. I love her as meat loves salt. She is the cherry on my sundae, the spice in my noodles and the ketchup on my fries.
She looks after me with zeal and enthusiasm. When l argue with her it is futile because l will not benefit anything from it. When l look into her eyes l see hope because she is strong, beautiful and patient. She has patience more than anything else. The things she does for me are incomprehensible.
She is my role model because the things she does for me are the same things to do for my children. She is the hardest rock you will ever want to strike.
She is my doctor when l am sick, she knows what to do so l can be cured. She is the most hysterical entertainer God has given me.
She is the pillar of my strength. When l am down she comforts me. When l am mischievous she disciplines because she wants the best for me. She is more experienced with the ways of life. That is why when l am lost l seek guidance from her.
She is my teacher at home. She always helps me when l am in need. She rapidly takes action when there is something wrong with me. She always encourages me to be the best. She reminds me to set my goals, and then l will know what my purpose on earth is or what l am destined for. She says that it will be her ultimate to see me achieve my goals in life.
She always says that l am the ruby in her jewellery set and does not want to see me break. She is a very optimistic person. She is my biggest fan and supporter. She is my best friend, the shoulder l can cry on. She always reminds me to say my morning and my evening prayers.
She makes me remember that there is no problem above God. My mom is soooo cool. I can never be embarrassed to go with her anywhere because l love her just the way she is. There is no-one who can replace her because she is one of a kind.
Truly speaking.........She is the best mom ever!!!!l love you mom!!
