Mini Olympics

CityKidz children and staff had such fun with their mini-Olympics. Both Group A and group B had a turn

The founder of the Modern Olympics, Pierre de Coubertin said that the most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.

With these words in mind it was very important for us to create a day of fun for our children before they go on holiday tomorrow. The mini-Olympics provided a wonderful opportunity to make our school buzz with excitement!
A BIG thank you to Mrs Annalene Vorster for all the planning, explaining the rules, the format and ensuring everyone was prepared. Mr Mlotshwa set up the music and Mrs Khan with Mrs Vorster were dynamic MC’s and this helped to boost the fun and laughter.

Mrs Annalene Vorster gathered her team of teachers and learners together, which cultivated an atmosphere of teamwork. Our Grade7 'helpers' enabled the mini- Olympics to get off to a good start as they were asked to judge the games! Some of the games included discus throwing with plastic plates, javelin tossing with sosatie sticks and jumping/ hurdling over plastic squares.
Although prizes were handed out, we believe everyone was a winner for participating! Thank you for a morning of fun!
