Scholar Patrol

CityKidz now has an official Scholar Patrol. Mrs A Padi from the Chief Directorate traffic management assisted us with the implementation and registration of our Scholar Patrol. Scholar Patrol is an important part of road safety education and essential to enhancing the safety of our learners. Not only does it regulate traffic, improve speed calming and facilitate safe crossing of the road but also instils in the minds of our young pedestrians an awareness of the importance of road safety. It also aims to set a good example and encourage all of our learners to observe the rules of safety.

  • Scholar Patrol is a call for unselfish service to fellow pupils and the community. It requires the efforts of individuals with the following characteristics:
  • Responsibility – a focus on the safety of  pedestrians is of paramount importance.
  • Punctuality - the team and our fellow pedestrian scholars depend on the team to be on duty, on time.
  • Dedication - demands are made on the free time of scholars and their ability to come out in any weather conditions, their enthusiasm and need for on-going training.
  • Commitment to teamwork with character traits like dependability, attention to detail, honesty, seriousness etc. www.arrivealive.co.za/Scholar-Patrol-and-Road-Safety

Our first week was fairly successful.

Unfortunately, several parents and taxis were guilty of entering the one way street from the opposite direction. One parent was abusive and drove through the stop sign barriers. Several other parents simply ignored the  scholar patrols signals. We request that ALL parents and drivers give our Scholar Patrol their full support.

We have photographed and taken down registration numbers of transgressors. We will forward this information to the traffic department.
