The 13th of October 2021 was a beautiful summer day. The new term has just started and a great deal has already been going at CityKidz School this week with learners returning and teachers gearing themselves for the busy term ahead. At CityKidz, all duties are carried out with passion and precision. This has resulted in the school making quite a name for itself amongst the top local schools, so much so, that it attracted the attention of teachers from Laura Vicuna School that is situated in Don Bosco in the Ennerdale area. Foundation Phase, Intermediate Phase and Senior Phase teachers from the school were accompanied by their Principal Sister Laetitia Maliehe and took a tour around CityKidz.
It was truly wonderful to have these external teachers come to our school and hopefully take a page from our specialised and professional educational ethos. As teachers, our obligatory duties require us to connect, share and help develop other teachers and CityKidz was proud to accomplish this endeavour.
The Laura Vicuna staff were given a tour around the serene environment of the school, observing how CityKidz teachers are managing their classrooms and conducting lessons. They were shown the tools teachers use to facilitate effective teaching and learning and were also taken through the administrative processes of the school such as the school’s effective use of files. They were also given the opportunity to peruse through the workbooks of our learners as well as take a glance at the new interactive boards which have recently been installed in each classroom.
The hard work of staff and learners was praised by our visitors. This was an encouraging moment for the staff of CityKidz. It was truly a fantastic and motivating experience and one could not help but keep on blushing with pride.
CityKidz also wishes to extend a big thank you to Ms Pulane Faku, a GDE Assessment Specialist who recognised the amazing work that the school is producing under the guidance of Mrs Sharon Reynolds. Pulane has been raving about CityKidz and could not stop singing its praises amongst her colleagues. This resulted in the visit from Laura Vicuna School.
Once again, thank you to the school’s Principal Mrs Sharon Reynolds, HODs, teachers, learners and our maintenance team for making sure that CityKidz does not only becomes the best school in the inner city, but around Johannesburg as a whole.
