measles innoculation

The Gauteng Province Department of Health  hereby informed the public that since the beginning of March 2017, there has been an increase in the number of confirmed measles  cases.

Measles is a serious disease, which can cause blindness, brain damage, pneumonia and even death. Measles can affect anyone (children and adults), failure to provide the second dose of measles vaccine will result in unnecessary suffering and death. Therefore children particularly from 18 months old and those that were not vaccinated need to make sure

that they are fully protected against this killer disease.

The 2017 Emergency Measles Outbreak Campaign was conducted at CityKidz on Tuesday the 23 May 2017. Health Professional from the Albert Street Clinic visited our school to immunise all children from Grade RR (4years) to Grade7. They all received one dose of the Measles Vaccine.

There were many squeals, cries and wails, but at the end of the day at least we know our children are immunised. Thanks to the nurses from the Albert Street Clinic and the Grade 7’s who provided comfort and support.
