Street Children Discussion

Four  girls  in Grade  6A took part in a panel discussion during class. Talent, Njanji, Lethubuhle Nkomo, Tamia Ndlovu, and Keketso Tlhapi volunteered to take on the role of our “experts”, while the rest of the class would be the audience.

The topic of the discussion: Street Children. The four girls went home and researched independently; they looked online for information, they spoke to people and gathered opinions, they organised and wrote up their research, and then presented it to the class. They included in their discussion, reasons that children end up on the street, the dangerous and life-threatening conditions faced by children, the way the public views street children , and what we can do to help. In an exciting development , Keketso (assisted by her mom) set up an appointment to interview the person in charge of an organisation dealing with street children so she could learn as much as possible about what it takes to assist  street children.

Every body participated positively in the discussion, listening respectfully and contributing constructively. The girls (experts) , are to be highly commended for the excellent quality of their work. Thank you to the parents involved for facilitating this learning process.( Ms Corrigan)
