Squash

The Dawn of A New Era for CityKidz Learners- Squash Development Egoli squash through support from Simgos House located in the Absa Towers WEST building have established a great platform for giving Johannesburg Inner-city learners an opportunity to learn a new game of squash, have fun and be fit. Our thanks goes to Simgos House and their team for such an opportunity.

On Wednesday 2nd November the Grade 6 went to the ABSA Tower to play a game called squash. At first we got lost, but when we got there it was amazing. We met with coach Emanuel. At first he made us  do some exercises for 20 minutes then after we learnt the names of the lines that were on the walls. After that we got to play the interesting game because you get to hit the tiny ball against the wall. When it was time to go home l was so sad because l didn’t want to go but they said we are going back again. I can’t wait to go back again. Stacey Muzanenhamo 6A.

Last week Wednesday both grade 6 classes went to the squash area. When we got there ,the coaches divided us into two groups. We were 40 and each coach had 20 kids. Coach Khanyi taught us about the T line, Sidewalls, front wall, back wall, service boxes, squash ball. Then we were divided and taken to the different courts. We practiced how to play squash and played “mosquito catch it” and “kill the ball.” We took pictures and signed in our names. It was wonderful , nice and fun........I am so speechless. First l would like to say thank you to Absa for the court and also thank you to our teachers and the coach. My time at the squash court was very nice .We learned so much about this new sport, such as the name of the boxes, are service boxes and the out of court line. I am very grateful that the Grade 6s were chosen. Thank you ABSA  and EGOLI SQUASH   Sibusiso Ngobeni 6A.
