Plastic Bottle Cap Mural challenge 2017

Wall mural competition

Great news … it’s a whole-school competition again !!! The Plastic Bottle Cap Mural challenge is aimed at taking something ordinary – plastic bottle tops – which we typically toss in the trash without a second thought, and re-purposing them to create colourful art pieces.

At CityKidz we want to encourage and  showcase how beautiful recycling can be by helping transform our environment. This mural project is an amazing example of how capable children are given the opportunity to express themselves in new and innovative ways. The project also will focus on environmental awareness by recycling plastic instead of it going to the landfill or littering landscapes. All you need to do is to create an awesome, beautiful wall mural.

The Plastic Bottle Cap Mural challenge is for each grade to create with their children. The competition will be judged on the 1st of September 2017.

The competition starts now, because over the next couple of months you need to encourage children to collect bottle tops. Thousands of bottle caps are needed; therefore classes from the different grades are competing for which class can collect the most bottle caps. How you go about this is entirely up to you.

Each grade will be allocated a wall space in which to hang their panel. There will be 8 panels in total, hanging on our walls. Each mural must have an environmental design and message. Minimum size is 1m by 1.5 m.

Once again, I will invite external judges for the competition to ensure impartiallity and fairness. The criteria on how your Plastic Bottle Cap Mural will be judged are indicated below. I have also included some photographs to inspire you in creating wonderful Plastic Bottle Cap Murals.

There will be prize money for the winning grade teachers and a party for the winning classes!! I’m sure you will all be buzzing with great ideas on how you can enhance our environment.Game on, go Above and Beyond!
