From all the student teachers from the University of Witwatersrand, we would like to extend our gratitude for the wonderful experienced at CityKidz Primary school in the last two weeks. We would like to thank the principal Mrs Sharon Reynolds for allowing us into her school. We would also like to thank our supervising teachers (Mr Nkomo, Mr Dube and Mr Mlotshwa ) for assisting us, allowing us to teach in their classrooms and most importantly for welcoming us in their classrooms. CityKidz Pre& Primary school really is an upstanding school, “I love how the principal pushes the teachers to become the best they could be, the learners and the teachers are always in class when they are supposed to be, the teachers teaching when they are supposed to. When I chose teaching as a career, the environment at CityKidz Pre& Primary school is the kind of environment I had envisioned. CityKidz is well resourced and well-equipped with great and capable teachers, the amount of learners in the classroom allow for great interactive lessons.

I am glad to have had this opportunity to come do my practical at CityKidz. The school community is more reflective of South African society. I love the diverse nature of the school, it is amazing, as well as the support from the staff. This experience is exactly what an aspiring teacher needs, and I think I have the best supervising teacher in the world-(Ms Pretty Ndlovu)

CityKidz is a great school, for one to do teaching practice. The staff members are so welcoming and they offer all the possible supporting structures needed by student teachers, especially my supervising teacher Mrs I Ndebele. This is one school that is very organised. I will recommend it to other student teachers from Wits.

“Everything has a beginning” being at CityKidz school has been pleasant and fruitful. I am learning to be an excellent teacher everyday and also from the learners, the staff and the teachers. Watching the learners in their school uniforms inspires me to do great things and lead by example. Seeing them learn, work, play and laugh completes my day. CityKidz has a wonderful and diverse structure that one can learn from. I really enjoyed being here.

My experience at CityKidz is a great one. There are a lot of things l have learnt this far from my supervising teacher. Mrs Cindy Moyo through observing her everyday. I love her teaching strategies and how she disciplines her learners. What l love most about this school is the support the learners get from their teachers through giving them extra support after school. This shows how passionate their teachers are about their learners. l also love the fact that they use different strategies to discipline their learners and no corporal punishment at all. It is a great pleasure to be doing my practical at CityKidz Pre-Primary School. I would definitely love to come back here next year.

The school has been very welcoming, especially my supervising teacher, Mr Quarcoo. He has been very direct and helpful with the learners. The learners in my class really give you an edge of what to expect when wanting to be a teacher Above all l really enjoy the experience of being called ma'am and not Miss so and so. I loved the experience of being called a teacher. The school has received us well.
